Why “Wild, Free & Crafty”?
“All good things are wild and free.” – Henry David Thoreau
To me, being wild and free means to enjoy the adventure we call life, unapologetically. It’s to live life without regrets and to live life intentionally. I’ve created this blog because I’ve seen too many moms feel lost after becoming parents. We feel like this thing called parenthood should have been different. We thought becoming a mom would be all rainbows and unicorns. Instead, we find ourselves with a bottle of wine at night, crying about the latest parenting mistake we made while bribing our kids with chocolate for breakfast for the first kid to fall asleep. We feel guilty every day for not feeling like they are good enough because society constantly has something to say about how we should be raising our families. My goal is to share articles that help uplift other parents by making life simpler, less stressful and more fun. Many craft projects will be shared as well, because I’m a firm believer that creativity is a very important outlet for moms, whether they’ve realized it yet or not.
A bit about me and my family…
I have four beautiful children, a sassy dog named Sunny, and a handsome hardworking husband. We currently reside in beautiful Wisconsin. I love my family with every bit of my being and I do everything for them to give them the best life I possibly can. You’ll find us outdoors as often as possible. We enjoy hiking and cycling. Traveling is a big passion of ours and we enjoy seeing as much of the world as we can. I am passionate about keeping the old and believe strongly in upcycling, reducing, reusing, and recycling. I’ve been known to go ‘junking’ far too often and love finding unconventional treasures I can turn into unique home decor. I have a passion for finding the positive in all things and enjoying this crazy thing called life no matter the circumstances, and helping to uplift others to do the same.
I run two crafty businesses along with my husband: Luxe Loft Wall Decals (wall decals ) and The Rustic Orchid Creative Workshop (wood sign painting and DIY workshop). In addition to our in-person workshops at our studio, we ship Take & Make craft kits and a monthly membership Craft Club subscription box nationwide. I am an expert in starting and successfully running creative businesses and will be providing courses and e-books in the near future to help other women succeed in their creative businesses.
